B baby magazine - issue 6 Spring 2016 - Colours book giveaway!
It's been a while since I've looked at a baby magazine as my daughter is now 8 but I did however really enjoy receiving this new baby magazine 'B' through my letterbox recently. I loved looking at all the beautiful well designed products and photographs and was extra thrilled to be featured on a few of it's pages shown here below. The current Spring issue 6 has a special feature on the Best of British.

My day in Porthleven, Cornwall - Jane Foster
My partner and I took a spontaneous trip to Porthleven yesterday. We'd not been there before and once we we there we fell in love with the area and the wonderful light. Here are a few snap shots I took. My heart skipped a beat when we came across a wonderful old guy (who'd lived there all his life) who collects old life buoys and other old fishing bits and bobs. He sold me a few which I've added to my growing collection outside the studio - gives me the feeling of having a coastal garden.
I especially loved the light in Porthleven and all the little cottages, granite Georgian houses and cute little cafes and galleries.

Jane Foster's Succulents in the living room
Have neglected our living room space whilst concentrating on the studio build and renovating the kitchen. Now that these are almost pretty much finished, I wanted to start to add some interest to the upstairs living room. I love succulents so was pleased to buy a few more from the fabulous Dutch Flower Shop in Totnes the other day. The owner said these need hardly ever be watered - great news for me! I've used a variety of vintage and retro ceramic containers to put them in - here are some snap shots so far.

Hand Screen Printed Fabrics by Jane Foster
My other huge passion is screen printing so I've been having a sort out of various fabric panels in my studio to offer you as fabric packs from my Etsy shop. Each of these has been designed and screen printed by me in my Devon studio. These are suitable for small sewing projects such as purses etc.. - (not to be made into items to then sell on I'm afraid!) Each of these packs comes with one of my greeting cards.
Sorting out my fabrics! - Jane Foster
Those of you that have kept and eye on my blog over the past 6 or 7 years will know that I've spent many years collecting and making items from vintage and retro fabrics. I used to make part of my living selling handmade vintage fabric cushions, which then spilled over into toys etc... I still love fabric but I don't collect or buy it in the way I used to. (My partner Jim is so pleased!!) I only keep fabrics that I really love or that I know I will realistically use. My career now is mostly illustrating and screen printing so I've less need to buy fabrics. Also, my daughter is growing by the day and no longer wants my handmade cushions, patchwork quilts etc... in her room - she has enough of them and is developing her own style and tastes. (which is completely right!) We spent a lovely few hours together yesterday morning sorting through various fabric tubs that I have and she made herself a pile of fabrics she wanted, I made a pile of fabrics I wanted and we made a pile of fabrics we could let go of. Really strange experience for me doing this as I can remember clearly where and when I bought each piece, the things I made from them and where I was living etc.. A bit like reading an old diary but probably happier!! To cut a long story short, (no pun intended!) I've put together a few fabric packs which I shall be listing on my Etsy shop at midday today - am sure I'll be adding more so pleased don't be sad if you miss these.
