Prima Baby GOLD award!

Am so pleased to announce that my baby board book 'Jane Foster's 123' published by Templar has been awarded a GOLD award from Prima Baby Magazine!  - A bold and stylish introduction to patterns and numbers from leading UK textile designer Jane Foster.

Publication Day! Two large format baby board books by Jane Foster

I'm pleased to announce it's the UK publication day of my two new larger baby board books published by Templar. Brown Bear Colour Book and Stripy Tiger Pattern Book. I've a few copies that I can sign available direct from me here. You can also buy them on Amazon and other shops around the UK. Here are some snap shots - these make great interactive books for babies and toddlers.

Hand Screen Printed Fabrics by Jane Foster

My other huge passion is screen printing so I've been having a sort out of various fabric panels in my studio to offer you as fabric packs from my Etsy shop. Each of these has been designed and screen printed by me in my Devon studio. These are suitable for small sewing projects such as purses etc..  - (not to be made into items to then sell on I'm afraid!) Each of these packs comes with one of my greeting cards.

Sorting out my fabrics! - Jane Foster

Those of you that have kept and eye on my blog over the past 6 or 7 years will know that I've spent many years collecting and making items from vintage and retro fabrics. I used to make part of my living selling handmade vintage fabric cushions, which then spilled over into toys etc... I still love fabric but I don't collect or buy it in the way I used to. (My partner Jim is so pleased!!) I only keep fabrics that I really love or that I know I will realistically use. My career now is mostly illustrating and screen printing so I've less need to buy fabrics. Also, my daughter is growing by the day and no longer wants my handmade cushions, patchwork quilts etc... in her room - she has enough of them and is developing her own style and tastes. (which is completely right!) We spent a lovely few hours together yesterday morning sorting through various fabric tubs that I have and she made herself a pile of fabrics she wanted, I made a pile of fabrics I wanted and we made a pile of fabrics we could let go of. Really strange experience for me doing this as I can remember clearly where and when I bought each piece, the things I made from them and where I was living etc.. A bit like reading an old diary but probably happier!! To cut a long story short, (no pun intended!) I've put together a few fabric packs which I shall be listing on my Etsy shop at midday today  - am sure I'll be adding more so pleased don't be sad if you miss these.

Screen printed handmade Scandi tote bags by Jane Foster

I'm in my element when I'm in my studio screen printing fabric to then make into products. I've normally got various work deadlines and orders to attend to but last Friday, I printed some fabric to make into tote bags. Here are some snap shots of me in the studio in my element!

New Zodiac Mugs Coming Soon! Jane Foster for Make International

Am really excited that my new zodiac mugs are now being produced as we speak and will be available to buy next month! I designed these for Make International last year and here are some of my initial sketches below and the actual mugs. Each mug has a different zodiac sign on the back and front with some blurb about each sign round the side.

They shall be launched at Olympia in London this January 17th - 19th on stand C29 Make International. Keith Brymer Jones will also be doing live pottery demonstrations each day.

Jane Foster at Peter Jones store in London

I was invited to the Haberdashery Department of Peter Jones store last Saturday in order to show my toy kits that they currently stock that the company Make International produce. They provided me with a table to display my various kits and I sat and designed whilst customers browsed the store. It was lovely to meet several children who also wanted to join me in drawing various animals and faces - here are a few snap shots from the event and the time I spent enjoying London at it's most Christmassy!
