Mini break to Cornwall - all in a day! - Jane Foster

We aren't having a family holiday as such this summer (due to various work deadlines) however, I am making sure we have the odd family day out so a few days ago we had a spontaneous day trip to Cornwall. We got up early and drove all the way to Marazion. It felt like a true holiday and although we were back by 10 o'clock, it had felt like we'd been away for a few days and was just the real break we all needed. Here are some snap shots. We managed to spend some time at Marazion on the beach overlooking St Mounts's Bay. We wandered around the various little art galleries and streets with beautiful painted white cottages and had a cream tea overlooking the sea. We also went to one of my favourite all time places for lunch - Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Gulval which has the most beautiful views, lovely contemporary building, superb tropical gardens and happens to be next to my favourite garden nursery specialising in succulents.

Beautiful photographs! We don't always go on holiday, as we live in a popular summer holiday area so some years we just make the most of what we have on our doorstep! I guess that's similar where you live... Gorgeous succulents - I'm slowly collecting some but it is taking years as they don't seem to be so popular in Suffolk!

So glad you enjoyed your trip to west Cornwall I live in Penzance and have done for most of my life I think myself a very lucky lady! I spotted you in the Pz sainsburys and I desperately wanted to tell you how much I love your work, it has brought such humour to our family home. I had a grumpy toddler in my trolley who was rapidly approaching happy hour so decided against it. This evening I read your blog about Rosie and was touched by it, your honesty and bravery. But I was horrified by the vile comments you received. So now seemed like the right time to say thank you for the beautiful things x

Your pictures are gorgeous! I am so sorry you had to take down your previous post. I did read it but wanted to take a while to think about my comment before posting. You've done totally the right thing for your family and it's nobody else's business. There is a nursery dedicated to succulents??? How lovely, I have a growing collection of sempervivams and succulents and am totally addicted! Hugs, Jo x
